Are you tired of you home office? When the weather is nice outside and there are animals playing you can feel blue about working in your home office. You can make your home office a nice place to work. What you need to do is clean your home office and give it an extreme makeover.
Clean it up
If your office is cluttered, it can make you feel like you are trapped. Take everything out of your office and put it in another room of your house. Place the contents of desk drawers and filing cabinets into boxes and set them in your living room. Remove any books and pictures and put them into boxes as well.
Wipe and vacuum
With everything out of your office, you can get it cleaned up. Start by wiping the ceiling of your office and work your way to the floor. Wash and wipe down everything you can from light fixtures to door posts. Be sure your windows are clean inside and out. Toss the curtains into your dirty clothes piles. Be sure you wipe the baseboards. If the floor of your home office is carpet, vacuum and shampoo it. Otherwise, sweep and mop the floor.
If you can’t clean the office yourself, you can always take a look into having a cleaning service do it for you. By this time, you should notice that you are able to breathe easier and you feel better about your home office.
Place your furniture
With everything out of your office and the place looking spic and span, it is a good time to figure out where the furniture should go. Move your desk in front of a window so you can enjoy the sunlight. Bring a favorite chair into the room so you can be comfortable while reviewing documents. Put up some pictures, add some plants, or anything else to make your office more cheery.
Place your office materials
Remember the items you put into the living room? Sort through them, tossing out and shredding what you don’t need. You’ll be amazed at how many bags of garbage you are able to remove. Anything that does not belong in the office, such as kid’s toys, can be put in the appropriate bedrooms.
Being efficient
To help yourself be more efficient in your home office, consider bringing in some plants. They provide healthy oxygen to help you feel better. Take a break to open a window and let some refreshing spring air in.
When you are working on a particularly frustrating problem, it’s best not to dwell on it. Take a break and enjoy the beautiful outdoors with your family. While you are relaxing, a part of your mind will be figuring out the solution to the problem. By making the most of your home office, you’ll be able to get more done.
