I just wanted to put together a little post to let you all know what the Angie’s List link in the right nav is all about. Angie’s List is where you’ll find tons of unbiased reports and reviews about service companies in areas all around the country. Angie’s List members share their experiences on the site to help others find service companies that they can trust. At present there are roughly 750 thousand consumers using Angie’s List. With that many users, there is a good chance that you can find someone local for your needs.
The reviews on the site cover a wide range of services, including:
- plumbers
- painters
- dentists
- dermatologists
- more…
As for the most common question I get… is there a real Angie? Yes there is. The List was started by Angie Hicks in 1995. It started with 1000 members in Columbus, Ohio. Angie is still with the company as Chief Marketing Officer.
I personally use Angie’s List, and it is much better than free review (complaint) sites. Things I like are that there are no anonymous reviews, since they actually follow up on complaints and glowing reviews. This helps prevent companies reviewing themselves. It also helps prevent companies bashing competitors. Both of these practices are common on free review sites. And like a good feedback system, the reported companies have a chance to reply.
Side Note: You can save $10 on a membership by typing in “SAVETEN” in the promotional code box at the bottom of the signup/payment page.
